A glimpse into the life of Coco Chanel...

Renowned filmmaker and photographer Sam Taylor-Johnson is set to unveil a photographic exhibition that will offer an insight in to how the renowned little black dress icon, Coco Chanel, lived her glamorous life in her apartment in Paris. Entitled ‘Second Floor', the series, which will be uncovered at the Saatchi Gallery in London, will expose the first images of the fashion legends home, which is still perfectly intact from when she was alive. The second floor apartment has only ever been seen by a select few and has never before been visible to the public. The 45 images, shot by Sam Taylor-Johnson, who is also the director of the upcoming and highly anticipated film production of Fifty Shades of Grey, said: "Shooting at Coco Chanel's apartment was an unexpectedly absorbing experience, the essence of Chanel is firmly collectionsed there in all of her possessions, and I truly believe that her spirit and soul still inhabit the second floor." The only image to be revealed so far from the series is of the lavish mirrored staircase leading up to the apartment, and if this is anything to go by then we're very excited to see what will follow! The other 44 pictures are set to artfully capture the objects and furniture that were most treasured by Mademoiselle Chanel, including that white satin-covered chaise lounge that she was photographed reclining on by fashion photographer Horst in 1937. "The apartment is beautifully stylish. It feels like she had meticulously chosen every object”, which comes as no surprise from a lady who is still today synonymous with perfect, classic style. We can't wait to see more and perhaps get some home furnishing inspiration.

‘Second Floor' exhibition will be accompanied by a book, and opens at Saatchi Gallery in London on Friday 12 September 2014 until Monday 22 September.
