The Best Ever Bond Girl Retrospective is here and this is our top ten of the best female protagonists of the Bond movies. For fifty years the iconic action film has seen audiences stunned by 007's desperately near death escapes, entranced by his incredibly heroic stunts, and mesmerised by his femme fatale's black dresses, not to mention their performance in those steamy love scenes. And in honour of those iconic women who are forever bestowed the title of 'Bond girl', we round up the Best Ever Bond Girls complete with a Bond Girl Collection to rival the films' costume wardrobe.

For us, it is neither the storylines nor the hunky actors. Now don't get us wrong, that God-given body of Bond man Daniel Craig is seriously applaudable. But what really makes the Bond franchise so incredibly iconic is the women who grace his adventures, the women who stay exceptionally glamorous through every mission, the valiant and the exotic, the desirable, the chic, the notorious, the Bond Girls.

So, call her powerful and independent or the easy eye candy option; the Bond girl has become as iconic as Agent 007 himself. Increasingly being noted for being a strong, clever and forthright woman who can hold her own in the world and may we add still look good - the Bond Girl usually plays a highly intelligent role as a villain, agent or other professional. Now who ever said you can't have brains and beauty? When Skyfall launched we were introduced to Berenice Marlohe as the glamorous and enigmatic Severine, and Naomie Harris as the sexy secret agent Eve. And as these new leading ladies prepare to steal the show, we've decided to honour the elite club of the oh-so glam and sophisticated Bond Girls from over the years with our Team LBD Bond Girl Top Ten...

Leading us into the top ten is glamorous American model and actress Talisa Soto as Lupe Lamora in Licence to Kill. With exotic beauty and self-assured attitude, Talisa played the Bond Girl admirably, boasting a wardrobe to die for in plunging neckline gowns, red lacey numbers, little black bikinis, and a striking crystal embellished black evening gown that we would give our right arm for. Devious and devilish, and incredibly glam, it was only inevitable that the fiery Xenia Onatopp from Goldeneye would make it to our list of best Bond Girls.This villainous Bond girl doesn't disappoint as she struts around in an extravagant array of vampish figure hugging gowns, mesh combat gear and voguish leather trousers. Beautiful, valiant, and knows exactly what she wants, Teri Hatcher plays the quintessential Bond Girl we've all learned to know and love. And its not just Bond that's fallen for her. Donning an admirable selection of slinky silk evening dresses, an elegant and slightly extravagant black evening gown and her signature white diamond scoop necklace it is little wonder she got us too.

6. Carey Lowell as Pam Bouvier in Licence To Kill

Ever tried accessorising your LBD with a gun? Pam Bouvier did. The much darker, edgier Bond Girl played by actress Carey Lowell impressed audiences as the second Bond girl of Licence to Kill. And with her sexy side-split black dress she impressed us too! Especially picked out by Daniel Craig for the role of Camille Montes in Quantum of Solace, it was only inevitable that French actress Olga Kurylenko would impress. And that she did. Needless to say she wins nil points for the best Bond name. But Pussy Galore, considered one of the most famous Bond Girls of all time, has certainly made it to the top of our Bond Girl style stakes. Playing the role of the typical Bond girl; ambitious, fiery and effortlessly chic, Pussy made sure her wardrobe was equally iconic with well tailored pieces; striking velour suits in both black and white, plunging neckline fitted shirts, and not to mention her trademark gold waistcoat.
