When designing each dress for our own-label collection, we take inspiration from the glittering moments of fashion heroes past and present and are on a constant search for those of the future. Supermodel Kate Moss is quite literally a timeless icon. Her effortlessly glamorous style spans decades and is emulated the world over. In an industry where there seems to be a 'new face' every week, her career today doesn't appear to be slowing down. In 2014, the year she turned 40, Moss fronted 16 global advertising campaigns and appeared on the cover of 17 international magazines, making it over 300 covers during her 25 year career! At LBD we know that the key to injecting a little of someone else's style into your own wardrobe is by decoding the way they dress. So during the design process of the Kate Dress we worked through Moss's greatest style moments from her entire career to crack the Kate style code and to produce an equally timeless LBD Collection dress that is truly inspired by British fashion's most famous face. Kate's style transcends time because she is true to herself. She knows that it's not just about putting outfits together, but about dressing perfectly for each and every occasion. Women of all ages can learn a little style lesson from her, from selecting evening dresses to investing in everyday wardrobe staples. Kate has a style equation all of her own, a well-honed mix of 60s bohemé and 70s glamour with a note of rock 'n' roll, keeping her look modern and consistently classic. When it comes to evening wear and big events, Moss tends to opt for dresses. From strapless and halterneck, to floor-length and mini, she has been seen in them all and clearly has many more. Kate recently revealed that she has three closets in total! One big one and two everyday ones, which she even categorises. But it's one dress in particular that will always remain a Kate classic to us, and that's the dress she wore to the 1998 Cannes Film Festival. A simple black, knee-length, pencil fitting dress with off-the-shoulder detail, Kate channelled elegance and demureness. Our favourite feature of the dress though had to be the decadent feathers (and the Johnny Depp arm candy!) that embellished the neckline. We have remastered this 90s classic for the modern day to sit in our Little Black Dress Collection with real ostrich feathers and a luxury, soft cotton fabric that has an ultra-flattering stretch. The off-the-shoulder design makes for instant glam appeal, dresses like these were made for the fanciest of events. Even Kate herself is a fan of reviving a classic - she has been spotted wearing this particular dress numerous times since its first outing at Cannes!
