Lanvin

Jeanne Lanvin, born 1st January 1867 – 6th July 1946, was a French fashion designer often hailed as one of the most influential designers of the 1920s and 30s.

The Lanvin story started when Jeanne set up a milliner’s boutique in 1897 and took inspiration from her daughter Marguerite when designing clothes. It is said that wealthy people were so impressed by the beautiful dresses that were made for Marguerite that they started requesting designer dresses of their own. Following this, the name expanded and after Jeanne’s death in 1946, the Lanvin name was developed by a number of successors, who immortalised the style of the international house.

The 2012 collection is host to a stunning variety of dresses in an array of great colours that embody the notion of timeless signature fashion represented by the Lanvin name. Think bright colours for Spring too; Gwyneth Paltrow and Beyonce have both recently been spotted wearing brilliant orange floor length Lanvin dresses and Meryl Streep’s floor length, gold, eco-friendly Lanvin dress dazzled at the Oscars.

We love these celebrities bold use of colour, but we wouldn’t be Team LBD if we didn’t also present you with an idea for a fabulous little black dress too. So, if you’re looking to purchase a little black dress that accentuates your curves and makes you feel that little bit special, fear not; this fabulous Lanvin number with a feminine bow will wow you.
