Black Friday is a relatively new phenomenon in the UK, after all, us Brits don't celebrate Thanksgiving like our friends across the pond! (Our US counterparts have been Black Friday sale shopping since 1932!) And although it can be very stressful navigating the offers and crowds this Friday, it doesn't have to be a horror movie. I asked the team at Little Black Dress what their top tips were for making the most of the sale season.

Jenna - Queen of Design:

I can't stand being in a shop when it's Black Friday, it's too stressful and crowded. I stay online and avoid the hassle of running between shops, standing in queues, looking for my size and makings sure the things I like are actually in the sale! It's so much easier to shop online, you can see the stock and your size straight away.

Lewis - King of Content:

I can't think of anything I want to do less than stand in a queue after a full day at work! And why would I give up a day on my weekend when I can shop the whole high street in my hand with my phone? I avoid rush hour, order things online and I can try them on at home in my own time. Plus, most Black Friday deals go live at midnight so instead of getting up early to stand and queue outside a shop, I prefer to stay up late and get the deals first online! And it means I can stay in my pyjamas!

Darcie - Relations Royalty:

I set reminders on my phone and make a list of things I want beforehand so I don't get distracted and start buying everything that's on offer! I make a list of which websites I need to check and I make a note about what time their sales are going live, too. Money Saving Expert always has a great page that predicts when stores are likely to go into sale based on past years.

Alice - Princess of Product:

I've already made wishlists on websites I plan to buy from anyway! Then on Friday I can just scroll through my list and see if any of the items I need have been reduced! I find it saves me time because I've already found the things I want. Plus, if the items haven't gone on sale for Black Friday, I like to check back on Cyber Monday, too.

Helen - Wizard of the Web:

I always sign up to as many emails or newsletters as I can before Black Friday, it saves me having to search for the deals, they just come straight into my inbox! I always think of others when I'm shopping too, if I see anything on offer that I know a friend would like, I buy it in the sales and it makes my Christmas shopping a little bit easier!

James - Master of Money:

I ask my friends and family what they would like for Christmas well in advance so I can keep an eye out for offers in the run up to Christmas and get a great deal on items that they've actually asked for!

Mark - Company Kingpin:

I use cashback websites when shopping to maximise the discount I'm getting. There's websites that post deals daily like Hot Deals so it's a great idea to keep an eye out to see if a brand is doing a great deal that you might have missed.

Nigel - Ring Master:

Brands value loyalty and they often send out special discounts to people who are subscribed to their emails. I always try to find brands I've never bought from before and sign up to their emails before Black Friday because they often surprise me and offer fantastic deals. It's also a great idea if you've got your eye on a specific item to follow the brand on Twitter and Facebook because they sometimes post exclusive deals on social media first.

Chloe - Overlord of the Internship:

I look for offers all week because brands sometimes do "countdown to Black Friday" deals where they start discounting their products earlier in the week so you might just be able to grab your Christmas party dress early before your size goes out of stock!
