The best celebrity dresses at the BRIT awards
Whilst the BRIT awards producers awake to accusations of a distinctly average and drama-free night (there's no pleasing some people, is there?) Team LBD and the rest of fashion world have been feverishly flicking through the paparazzi pictures, hoping and praying for a more entertaining display on the dress front. And thankfully we weren't disappointed with the array of full-length frocks, fishtails and a pleasing amount of metallic styles. Read on for the best of the BRIT awards frocks and for Team LBD's guide to recreating the SS13 red carpet look for less. SEE-THROUGH & SIMPLE: TAYLOR SWIFT Jarlo Siobhan Black Maxi Dress, £87. Taylor Swift was dressed to thrill at the BRITs last night (which we're sure had something to do with ex-boyfriend Harry Styles being in attendance) and thrill she did in this season's sexiest evening wear trend, the sheer black dress. Taylor does what she does best here, demure with a hint of sex appeal via a floor-length, high-neck design that featured a gold belt to define her waist and sheer panels that flashed just enough of her lengthy legs. Steal Taylor's red carpet style with this inexpensive alternative from Jarlo. With it's halterneck design, longer length and lace detailing you'll be sexy and sophisticated in equal measures. METALLIC MAMA: BERENICE MARLOHE HMH Couture Alecto Dress, Was £445, Now £222.50. Bond babe Berenice Marlohe made sure all eyes were on her in this mermaid-esque floor-trailing gold dress at last night's star-studded event. Metallic dresses will be huge this year and we recommend styling yours similarly to Berenice: with low-key accessories that let the colour and seriously sexy shape-enhancing ruching qualities of the gown speak for itself. HMH Couture is your one-stop shop for designer pieces without the designer price tag. We love the Alecto dress (now in the sale!), which clings to your figure in all the right places a la Ms Marlohe but features a more modest neckline for those not quite so camera confident. V-NECK VIXEN: JESSIE J Bernshaw Karolina Dress in Black, Was £399, Now £200. Gone are the days of high-waisted leggings and a punky crop tops teamed with thick gold hoop earrings for one Ms Jessie J. And Team LBD for one are very pleased with the singer's style transformation which has included some seriously covetable slinky black dresses. And last night's BRIT awards was no different with Jessie strutting her stuff in a rather revealing long black V-neck dress. To recreate Jessie's vampy yet chic look we can't recommend Bernshaw's bestselling Karolina dress enough. This timeless style will transcend seasons and will work for so many occasions you really will get your money's worth. Not to mention you'll look super trim and can go to town on accessories! LITTLE LACY NUMBER: EMMA WILLIS Reiss India Black Lace Bodice Dress, £149. She's not usually one to make it on to Team LBD's top dresses lists but we couldn't ignore Emma Willis' attention to this season's style at the BRIT awards 2013. This black lace number was a perfect twist on Louis Vuitton's iconic over-sized lace numbers for SS13 in sexy black. Whilst she showed off her underwear through the sheer fabric she gave her whole look an innocent Twiggy like feel with the opaque high-waisted skirt-style bottom, long sleeves and classic black court shoes. Whether you're lucky enough to grace the red carpet or looking for a SS13 appropriate Saturday night party dress we love the Reiss India dress which is now available at LittleBlackDress.co.uk. Play it safe like Emma with black shoes and a simple clutch bag or play around with new season neons and metallic heels. INTO THE BLUE: JO WHILEY Gorgeous Couture Ava Maxi Dress, £232. If you hadn't already noticed from the numerous 'into the blue' features in all our favourite glossies the cool shade is going to be one of summer's most fashionable hues. And never one to leave us feeling underwhelmed when it comes to the most elite of red carpets Jo Whiley was one step ahead of the fash pack in this goregous blue Halstone Heritage gown. We love the Jolie-ing leg action too! Make like Jo and be summer-ready in this look-at-me light blue dress. The t-shirt style simplicity of the dress teamed with a rather sexy cowl back makes for the perfect wedding guest piece and is guaranteed to get you noticed. THE MIDAS TOUCH: LAURA WHITMORE This will not be the last time you see the LGD (that's, Little Gold Dress, obviously). And that is in part because a metal colour palette and 60s style were championed by the best at the SS13 runway shows but also because Laura Whitmore has dubbed it cool. The TV presenter has recently enjoyed a wardrobe overhaul and has yet to put a nude-stiletto wrong meaning all of fashion world are recreating her style. Follow in Laura's well-informed footsteps with this high end hottie from designer darling Jasper Garvida. Team your Midas dress with light coloured shoes and loads of gold cuffs (another SS13 trend, you're welcome) and you're new party look is sorted. PEACH PRINCESS: RITA ORA L.2.Mae Ophelia Bias Fantail Evening Dress, Was £145, Now £70. This is a bit of an unusual one for Rita but then that's the charm of the music mogul's style, isn't it? Her attempts to look more glamorous and high end well and truly paid off at the BRIT awards last night in a floor-length peachy silk gown. The evening dress was reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe's sexy red carpet looks and glided over her vuluptuous figure wonderfully. L.2.Mae's sumptuous satin evening gown features a fantail similar to Rita's and will give you a slice of the A-lister's style for the grand total of £70! Team with rose gold jewellery for a winning look. Shop all our red carpet dresses here.
