Loved and revered by many, Princess Diana truly was one of Britain's most memorable fashion icons and was definitely the sauciest minx the royal family had even known. Even though we're sure Pippa Middleton will soon be pinching that title very soon - certainly after some of the comments we've read on Twitter! Princess Di first made her fashion mark when she appeared in this sexy and sassy black dress by David and Elizabeth Emanuel for the announcement of her engagement to Prince Charles, where she was spotted having a cheeky dance with John Travolta. The previously shy Diana shocked and stunned fashionistas everywhere when she stepped out in this black and bold dress, making it very clear that she was a fashion force to be reckoned with. Can you imagine Camilla pulling off something like this? We think not - cankles are a no no! But in recent week's, Diana's famous black gown style has seen a revival in the form of the First Lady of Fashion, Michelle Obama. During her UK visit, her and hubby Barack hosted a dinner for the Queen at Winfield House, and what should she choose to wear? Well an off-the-shoulder black gown from the Ralph Lauren Fall 2011 Collection of course, which was an incredibly similar style to Di's original gown. Did she do this in homage of the People's Princess? Or perhaps she was simply seduced by the way this silky number hugs those enviable curves of hers? Well whatever the reason, we salute Michelle for rocking Ralph Lauren and we cant wait to see what else she is going to pull out of her wardrobe in the week's to come. But the real question on our lips is who wore this off-the-shoulder style best? Our vote goes of course to Princess Di! The 80s was an era of shoulder pads, leg warmers and parachute pants, but despite all this Diana still managed to look subtle, elegant and sultry in a dress which has gone down in fashion history! Who do YOU think wore it best?
