Natalie Imbruglia ticks all the trend boxes in a leather LBD
You wouldn’t be alone if you were a tad confused about Ms. Imbruglia- is she a singer? An actress, maybe? Or even a supermodel? Natalie has been out of the limelight for a while but made a rare appearance earlier this week and if nothing else, we’re sure of her ability to trailblaze seasonal trends.
Natalie stepped out from the shadows to attend the star-studded birthday bash in honour of British comedian, David Walliams who was celebrating turning forty at Scott’s Restaurant in London’s Mayfair. With David’s penchant for cross-dressing, we were somewhat surprised to see him in an extremely macho two-piece rather than a skimpy LBD.
Despite the disappointment, we were soon alleviated after seeing Natalie’s fashion-forward, leather LBD and boyfriend blazer combination. Teaming a tantalising number with boyish tailoring creates a harmonious equilibrium between masculinity and femininity.
With the return of androgyny this Autumn and Winter, we will be following in Natalie’s stiletto-clad footsteps and combining our LBDs with some clean cut lapels.
Leather is hot this season with the emergence of Fetish Fashion -a fever that Jennifer Aniston and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley have already been seduced by.
A high-rise, scooped neckline and conservative, knee-length hem ensure that the malleable leather ensemble remains sophisticated and flirtatious, rather than smutty and cheap.
