7 Trends You Need To Know From London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week has just taken place and we are obsessed with all the amazing looks that hit the runway this February. From Richard Quinn to Nensi Dojaka, we couldn't get enough of the up-and-coming trends that we're sure we'll be seeing everywhere in the coming months. Here's our top 7 must-know trends from the LFW AW22 runways.

1. Shimmer

It's time to turn up the sparkle with glitzy shimmer looks inspired straight from the runways of London Fashion Week. After the past two years of restrictions and loungewear, it looks like this season is going to be all about dressing up and making an impact. 16Arlington exemplified this trend with pieces so intricately embellished they shimmered like water as they made their way down the runway. We're loving sequin party dresses and sparkling diamante-encrusted accessories for eye-catching occasion looks.

2. Exposure

Dare to bare this season with sexy sheer fabrics and exposing cut-outs. Taking over from the underwear-as-outerwear trend from 2021, we spotted barely-there looks all over the runways of London Fashion Week for AW22. Supriya Lee draped sheer fabrics into gorgeous layered pieces with delicate elegance, while POSTER GIRL used carefully-placed cut-outs to make an bold impact with a sultry edge.

3. Voluminous Skirts

Add some volume to your new season wardrobe with statement skirts designed to make an impact. From minis to maxis, this year we've been seeing voluminous A-line skirts dominate the catwalks in London Fashion Week. Molly Goddard used statement ruffles to create exaggerated volume and impact, while Emilia Wickstead stuck with clean lines and elegant shapes for her 'new look' inspired silhouettes. We predict we'll be seeing these statement skirts for wedding guest looks, prom gowns, and cocktail dresses all year long.

4. Bridal Fever

Weddings are back! If you've been thinking about getting married but have been waiting for right moment, these designer wedding gowns are sure to make your mind up! While usually reserved for haute couture runways, bridal looks were featured in multiple shows this fashion week, and Lila Moss really took the cake as a stunning blushing bride for Richard Quinn with gorgeous feather detailing and crystal embellishment. We noticed florals, ruffles and diamante details as key wedding trends for the year ahead.

5. Fuchsias and Lilacs

Bold colours are back this season, and it was fuchsia pinks and dainty lilacs that dominated the runways this LFW. From the collections of Fashion East, POSTER GIRL, Richard Quinn, and more, hot pinks and soft purples were a clear stand out. We're loving these feminine tones taking over from 2021 neutrals for a bolder and brighter new fashion season.

6. Micro Minis

Hemlines are rising this season with micro mini skirts taking over the runways at London Fashion Week. Fitted or flared, these daring pieces are continuing the exposure trend we've already been loving. Emilia Wickstead took the mini to the next level with tiny A-line skirts making her models legs seemingly go on for days. We predict we'll be seeing these mini's all summer long and into party season.

7. Ruffle Me Up

One of the biggest trends we saw dominating the runways at London Fashion Week was statement ruffles and voluminous frills. Continuing the trend from 2021, the ruffles have only got bigger and bolder, with eye-catching tiered skirts and frill details throughout being the must-have for on-trend dresses. Molly Goddard took this trend to the next level with her gorgeus babydoll dresses where ruffles took centre stage to create unique silhouettes.
