Love it or loathe it, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner so we asked our party-savvy friends at to reveal their most stylish spots for a Valentine’s date. Read on for the their edit of the most inspiring romantic bars around the country, so you won’t have to worry about spending the 14th in your local. Enjoy!

1) 68 and Boston – London

68 and Boston opened its doors to the public late last year. Since then, they have been the go-to spot for many couples and blind dates. Between the two venues – 68 offering seasonal wine and Boston offering whimsical cocktails – they’re making a fabulous impression on London’s dating scene. Don’t just keep these guys in mind for your Valentine’s weekend though; 68 host a live jazz band every week too.

2) Basement Sate – London

Behind a cute little red door and down a discreet set of stairs in Soho lies Basement Sate; a chic basement bar offering a hoard of guilty pleasures. These pleasures come in the form of delicate desserts, heady cocktails, and late night drinking and dancing. In light of Valentine’s, the venue’s creative chefs have even created a special love-themed dessert (that comes accompanied with two glasses of bubbly). If you have a sweet tooth make sure to nag your boyfriend to bring you here. There’s no better place to satisfy your sugar cravings.

3) Purl – London

Perched in the heart of Marylebone is Purl; a magnificent 1920s basement bar. You could say that their tipples bring something different to the table seeing as they serve their ‘Photograph’ cocktail in an actual camera lens. But apart from their theatrical cocktails, we know another reason to visit Purl – their private booths. They’re intimate and are sure to bring the wow-factor to your Valentine’s date night.

4) Swan on a Hot Gin Roof – London

Gin lovers, we come bearing some good news. Sipsmith have partnered up with The Ham Yard Hotel to create the Swan on a Hot Gin Roof pop-up. This is the perfect excuse to get close and personal with your date (you have to share a cosy blanket to keep warm). We know, sneaky! Tickets are a steal at £14 and include your first drink. We have no doubt that your date will keep you warm, but there are plenty of hot cocktails like the Steaming Julep, to keep you toasty too.

5) The Edgbaston – Birmingham

The Edgbaston is known as one of Birmingham’s most stylish cocktail lounges. Their Art Deco décor is first-class and as for their cocktails? Well, we don’t believe there are words to do them justice. They’ve recently launched their new cocktail menu too; it boasts 12 new creations. But if you fancy a spot of afternoon tea and champagne instead, they have a special deal running from the 10th until the 17th February.

6) The Fitzgerald – Manchester

So don’t be surprised when you find yourselves chatting and laughing over a candle-lit table for hours.

8) The Vaults – Birmingham

The Vaults is known as a popular haven for loved up couples and this year they have a special three course meal planned for Valentine’s. The venue’s main feature has to be their VIP booths. If you’re up to it, why not organise a group of your closest couple-friends and rent it out for the 14th.
