Blog Unquestionably the most famous little black dress icon of all time, Audrey Hepburn is the undisputed queen of the LBD, a true silver screen icon and the epitome of elegance. WHO IS SHE? AN ACTRESS, ETC? WHY ARE WE WRITING THIS? WHAT IS THE HOOK - IT WOULD BE HER BIRTHDAY ON 4TH MAY, SO TO CELEBRATE WE LOOK BACK AT HER STYLISH LIFE, AND WHY SHE IS SO INSPIRAITONAL THAT WE NAMED OUR BEST-SELLING DRESS AFTER HER I THINK THIS IS QUITE DULL - SHOULD BE ABOUT HER STYLE, HER GLAM LIFE, AND BRING IN MORE ABOUT OUR COLLECTION. IT NEEDS TO CATCH OUR IMAGINATION. Audrey was not only the vison of timeless beauty that would become forever synonymous with the Hollywood Glamour of the 20th Century but she was almost somewhat a saint. Not content with Hollywood, Audrey spent 38 years of her life working for UNICEF and was even awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her work as a UN Goodwill Ambassador. Perhaps one of our favourite quotes from the star:

“Makeup can only make you look pretty on the outside, but it doesn’t help if you are ugly on the inside. Unless you eat the makeup.”

Green-mansions A true style icon, Audrey rose to fame when she starred in Roman Holiday and won the 1954 Best Actress Oscar for her role as Princess Ann. Hepburn was even ranked as the greatest female screen legend in the history of American Cinema by the American Film Institute. It was Audrey’s casting and impeccable performance in Sabrina that cemented her status as one of the era’s finest acting talents, but one which also introduced her to her favourite designer, Hubert de Givenchy. AGAIN THIS IS ALL QUITE DULL, NEED TO BRING ORE COLOUR. HER FILMS SHOULD JUST BE A SECOND MENTION, NOT MAIN BODY OF FEATURE. Funy-faceIt was Audrey’s role as Holly Golightly in the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany's that is considered to be her defining role as an actress. WHAT WAS HER ROLE? WHAT IS THE FILM ABOUT BRIEFLY? The Givenchy little black dress worn in the opening scene of the film is considered one of the most iconic items of clothing in the history of the 20th century (it was sold at auction for £467,200 – the highest price paid for a dress from a film) and perhaps the most famous LBD in history. NEED TO TALK ABOUT THE OTHER DRESS IN THE FILM THAT WE USED AS INSPIRATION FOR OUR DRESS, WHY THIS DRESS, WHAT SO SPECIAL ABOUT IT? Breakfast-at-tiff But aside from Audrey’s incredible acting prowess and heart of gold, it’s her undeniably feminine, graceful and timeless style that makes Audrey Hepburn a true style icon. CAN YOU GIVE EGS OF THIS STYLE? Just this month The Great British Style Audit poll surveyed 2,000 Brits to reveal that Ms Hepburn is still the country’s favourite style icon and is revered as the most stylish woman of all time. NICE FACT! So it’s not hard to understand why, when Team LBD decided to create their first ever own-label LBD Collection, inspired by icons, NEED A LOT MORE ON THIS PLEASE. THIS SHOULD BE MOVED UP THE FEATURE TOO that we chose to represent the fashion muse with a dress named in her honour and inspired by her iconic Givenchy dress in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. WAS IT DEFINITELY A GIVENCHY DRESS? I KNOW THE ONE IN OPENING SCENE WAS BUT NOT SURE ABOUT THIS ONE? WHY dress Due to the popularity of our original Audrey Dress in Black, from the AW14 collection, we have reinvented it for Spring/Summer. CAN WE TALK THIS UP A LOT MORE? WOW IT WAS AMAZING, ONE OF OUR ABSOLUTE BESTSELLERS, NOT SURPRISING BECAUSE BASED ON OUR FAVOURITE LBD ICON OF ALL TIME. Available now in nude, white, lace and black, the Audrey dress is cut to flatter with a slender fit. It's the perfect dress for any occasion having an element of stretch in the figure-skimming, luxurious fabric allowing for easy movement and comfort. The gently boned Ostrich feather detailing on the hemline is not only a stand-out feature but creates a sleek and flawless silhouette. (image of all 4 audrey's here)

5 things you didn’t know about Audrey Hepburn:

Audrey had UK size 8 feet. She was always extremely self-conscious despite being renowned as one of the most beautiful women in the world and once said: “I’d like not to have such angular shoulders, such big feet, such a big nose.” Audrey had a pet deer named Pippin. After working on the 1959 film Green Mansions the star adopted her on-screen sidekick and would even take him shopping in the Beverly Hills supermarket. (IMAGE OF AUDREY AND DEER HERE - if you think okay jenna?) Audrey’s real name is not really Hepburn. Audrey was christened Audrey Kathleen Ruston in 1929 but stared calling herself Hepburn, her great grandmother’s name, in 1948 before her acting career began. Audrey lived under Nazi occupation in World War II. During her time in the the Netherlands under Nazi control she resorted to easting tulip bulbs and trying to bake grass into bread. WHAT TIME IN THE NETHERLANDS? WHEN? HOW OLD? BIG OT BACKGROUND PLEASE. Audrey made the LBD famous. Her appearances in Breakfast at Tiffany’s in several iconic LBDs made the dress an instant hit. She also never believed herself to be a style icon, saying “My appearance is accessible to everyone. With hair tied in a bun, big sunglasses and black dress, every woman can look like me.” SHALL WE SCRAP THIS - OR DO IT AS ANOTHER BLOG POST TO SUPPORT THIS ONE...
