Race Day Dress Trends 2019 - Be Best-Dressed
Race Day season is here and we're on the hunt for the most stylish dresses to wear. We're loving the Ladies Day social calendar for 2019, just a furlong away from the Grand National at Aintree this April and Royal Ascot in June. Here's a must-have style guide on what to wear for the races.. .and the dress code for winning style. Want to win at the style stakes this race day season? You’re in the right place; we’ve got plenty of outfit inspirations to get you to ladies day in style, as well as tips for navigating tricky dress codes, what to take in your beauty bag and of course, dressing for the unpredictable British weather…
A Nod to the Race Day RulesFirst things first, make sure you know exactly what you've purchased - is your ticket for the Royal Enclosure or for access to all public areas only? This obviously has a bearing on what styles of dress to wear. Strict rules dictate what to wear for Ascot - obviously you want to look on trend whilst being respectable should HRH saunter into your enclosure. So do your homework wisely. If you're off to the Royal Enclosure at Royal Ascot, your dress must be knee-length and have shoulder straps wider than one inch. The finishing touch comes with a clutch by Gina Bacconi.
Jumpsuits - Perfect for Colder Race DaysFeeling the chill? Then it goes without saying, we're loving our new jumpsuits ideal for colder days. Survive those weather warnings and plan carefully to stay one step ahead of the British climate - grab a pretty shawl whilst holding onto your hats ladies! But jumpsuits are great to avoid those Marilyn Monroe moments in windy weather and are also fantastic for elongating the body, if you cinch in the waist. Try this Gina Bacconi jumpsuit; with matching bag; wear with a Code Lip Plumper for perfect day long glossy lips.
Celebrity Style - Be More BodyconIf you want to wow like the Kardashians, why not try the Honor Gold range of bodycon dresses? We love the new Coral Faye dress with its plunging back and figure hugging qualities. The lace is so pretty and the coral an on trend colour for 2019. Naked AmbitionThe new neutrals are odds on to be favourites this new season. We're loving our range of Club L London neutrals which are bang on trend. We think you're going to steal the show for Best Style Visitor in this fabulous blazer dress popular on A-List red carpets this season. Add a softly coloured clutch and opt for drama with these new style of Hattinators, a fun cross between a hat and a fascinator. Caption: Blazer dress; hattinator and clutch.
Hats OffLet's face it, Ladies day is a good excuse to wear a hat - a great way to add height and a sense of grace and elegance to your vibe. We're loving the Nataliya Couture range of hats - simply breath-taking. Or try our Gina Bacconi range of Hattinators and hats for that perfect finishing touch. Wear with a midi dress of your choosing.Caption: Hats-a-plenty: Try a Hattinator from Gina Bacconi: Nataliya Couture hat; midi dress and pucker lipstick.
Make up with Staying PowerFinally, we all wish for long-lasting make-up which survives the test of time for race day. Ensure you exfoliate two days before then moisturise before applying our favourite self tan lotion 24-hours pre the Big Event. Enjoy the coconut fragrance of this light, and non sticky Fearne lotion. Have you tried our Lookx range of skin care products? We're adoring the clear skin range helping to restructure the texture of your cells, leaving you feeling a youthful healthy glow. Again, a woman can never moisturise enough helping keep your make-up glowing all day long. And lastly, add a touch of bronzer to your usual make up routine. We love Daniel Sandler's water colour cream bronzer in Riviera. Get the look: Fearne Natural glow: Longer lippy; bronzer and fragrance.
Dress Code - Royal Rules on Race DayOff to the Royal Ascot? Then, beware there is a strict dress code for all that cork popping. It's the creme de la creme of all racing events, but it's also the event with the most rules. Dresses and skirts should be of modest length defined as falling just above the knee or longer. Try our midi dresses collection for examples of the best race day dresses for 2019.
6 Top Tips: The Royal Enclosure
- Jackets and pashminas may be worn but dresses and tops underneath should still comply with the Royal Enclosure dress code.
5. Midriffs must be covered
6. Fascinators are not permitted; neither are headpieces which do not have a solid base covering a sufficient area of the head (4 inches/10cm)

Meanwhile in the Queen Anne Enclosure, the following applies:
A hat, headpiece or fascinator should be worn at all times on race day. Strapless or sheer strap dresses and tops are not permitted. Trousers must be full length and worn with a top that adheres to the guidelines above. Midriffs must be covered. Shorts are not permitted"So, those are the rules - now you can have free reign (pun intended) to shop until you drop for that best dressed outfit - and remember, some of these race days this year are hosting style awards, and that could be you! Good luck!
