Your August Event Guide from Design My Night

Vermouth on the roof

Summer is well and truly here, ladies. As always, we got in touch with DesignMyNight for info on the hottest events this month. From champagne tastings on the 17th floor to a cute and quirky afternoon tea, here’s your ultimate August event guide.

1. Afternoon Remedy
Put on your finest day dress and venture down to Old Street for a quirky afternoon tea at one of Shoreditch’s hottest hangouts, Tonic and Remedy. Every Saturday between 12-4pm you can treat yourself to scones with clotted cream and jam in an innocent-looking milk bottle, T&R cheesy dunkers, and a portion of boozy Magnum ice cream. The fun doesn’t stop there; for £65 you and a friend will be able to lock lips around three of their bespoke cocktails, alongside five matching savoury and sweet dishes.

2. Summer Riviera
For six weeks, Searcys at the Gherkin are joining forces with Tanqueray 10 gin to bring a Sky High Summer outdoor playground to London. Think 1950s summer, 40 floors high above the bustling city. Expect plush decor, cosy sun loungers, a ‘pool’ and a temporary village market to help set the scene. It’s all chic and glamour here, with a selection of fresh oysters and charcuterie bites. If you were looking for an excuse to purchase another summer dress; this is it.

3. Vermouth on the Roof
Popping up at Ham Yard Hotel this summer is Vermouth on the Roof. If you’re one for wild cocktails, you need to grab your girls and head here. The mixologists will be shaking up some seriously experimental concoctions, all made with fresh herbs and homegrown flowers from their very own garden. Taking its inspiration from the traditional Italian aperitivo, there will be a tasty buffet-style selection of antipasti and plenty of flora and fauna dotted around the rooftop. For a nifty £15, this is a cool hotspot for laid-back summer evenings. If you’re up for it, splash an extra £15 and try your hand at a cocktail-making masterclass.
