We have our LBD battle regular, Kelly Rowland, who challenged Tulisa Contostavlos as, The X Factor returned with a trend war earlier this month, in one corner; songbird, Katy Perry, a fashion law unto herself, in the another and teen sensation, Selena Gomez quivering somewhere in between. The BFF of newly pregnant, Beyonce and recent addition to The X Factor judging panel Kelly Rowland, turned up to the MTV Video Music Awards wrapped in a mega micro-mini that was most definitely less than more with it's plummeting neckline and sheer, chiffon inserts. The lavish LBD, so eloquently bedecked in ebony feathers and luxurious gold embroidery belongs to the Fall 2011 collection by Indian design house, Falguni & Shane Peacock. The rich colour palette suits Kelly's complexion to absolute perfection. Katy Perry was also turning heads at the ceremony but probably not for the same reasons as Kelly as she flaunted a bizarre LBD fabricated from crystal mesh and vinyl records. The adored songstress who won Video of the Year for her successful single, Firework looked to contemporary, Dubai couture designer, Furne One to create this masterpiece. Furne One were working with the brief that Ms. Perry is a chart topping, record breaker and wanted to portray this literally with the vinyl-trimmed neckline and quirky fascinator. We admire Katy's lateral thinking and can't deny her a place at the top of the charts for entertainment value. We also admire Selena Gomez's bravery for venturing out in a gothic-chic, floor trailer and attempting to rid herself of the squeaky clean, teen image that still tars her from her Disney days. However, we think such a strong, sensuous look should be left to the top cats and Selena's girl-next-door image is far too cute for the vampish fever. Just look at those prom-chic pumps and butter-wouldn't-melt baby face. C'mon Selena, where's the menacing scowl, towering fetish shoes and hollowed eyes?!  Ms. Rowland pips Perry and Gomez to the post in our opinion but which little black number is topping your charts? If you're a fan of the more outlandish, Furne One designs then you will love Zooey Deschanel's Moschino dress but if the Goth-glam aeshetic is ticking all your boxes, then check out Olivia Wilde and Laura Haddock's for inspiration on how to wear the look.  Perhaps Miss. Gomez should cast her eye also!
