It may have been 50 years since the screen siren mysteriously died but modern-day film and fashion continues to be fascinated with and inspired by the late, great Marilyn Monroe. And 2012 has been the most Marilyn obsessed of all with the Oscar-winning biopic, My Week with Marilyn, starring Michelle Williams, and NBC show Smash, reigniting our love for not just the actress, but the woman.

Today, in memory of the woman who shaped an era of cinema, celebdom and style Team LBD take a look at Marilyn Monroe's finest fashion moments and how you can pay homage to her Hollywood glam style:

This picture was taken in 1950 of Marilyn wearing a gorgeous one-shoulder black cocktail dress by Ceil Chapman. Get her after-hours style with the CeMe London Lenora Dress, £180. This photograph by Gene Kornman is titled Marilyn Monroe, 1953, and is one of more than 200 Monroe pictures from 39 photographers - including luminaries such as Richard Avedon, Gordon Parks, Robert Frank and Andy Warhol - which made up the Brooklyn Museum of Art's exhibition, I Want to Be Loved by You: Photographs of Marilyn Monroe in 2004. To channel Marilyn's effortless elegance invest in sterling silver drop earrings like these Otis Jaxon Nest Stem Earrings, £36.75.

This is one of Team LBD's most memorable Marilyn Monroe images. Famed for her sultry style Marilyn was a fan of William Travilla's seductive dresses and she wore this gold pleated evening gown with a halter neckline for a scene in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Steal her style with HMH Couture's Alecto Dress, £445.

This image comes from a edited version of the screen icon's last film, the never-completed Something's Got to Give. Emanate Marilyn's girlier, pin-up style in Kate Fearnley's Paige Dress, Was: £184, Now: £138.
