Actress Lauren Bacall dies
Style icon and Hollywood actress Lauren Bacall has died at the age of 89. Her incredible career, which saw her star alongside the likes of Marilyn Monroe, took off when, at the age of 19, her outstanding beauty bagged her the female lead in To Have and Have Not.
Starring opposite her future husband Humphrey Bogart, during their first scene together, she recalled having to hold her head down with her chin low to her chest to stop herself trembling. It seemed to do the trick because within two years the pair were married. Unfortunately, Becall suffered heartache when, after less than 15 years together Bogart, 25 years her senior, passed away from oesophageal cancer in 1957. After a brief courtship with Frank Sinatra, Bacall married Jason Robards Jr in 1961.
Off-screen she was known for her fiery and outspoken personality, and of course her effortlessly beautiful looks, a killer combination we say, and a sad day for the loss of an icon. Take a look through our favourite images of the timeless beauty below.
