Orla Kiely reveals Autumn/Winter 12 collection in a jazz bar...
February 20, 2012
The Portico Room at Somerset House was transformed into a crowded low-lit 1940s jazz bar by Orla Kiely for the debut of her AW/12 collection last week.
Waiters served fabulous cupcakes and champagne was in full flow around the candle-lit tables, as dainty models waltzed under an over-sized golden glitter ball to the jazz band to showcase Orla Kiely's latest pieces.
The male models were dressed decadently in tuxedos and the female models were draped in Orla Keily's new ladylike collection; a mixture of retro tea dresses, mid-length skirts teamed with ornate butterfly printed chiffon blouses and patent bags.
The room and collection were made up of a vintage-feel colour palette with soft nudes, hints of sapphire blue and touches of ruby reds sure to have you reaching for the afternoon tea set and twin set.
Team LBD asked Orla what inspired this collection: “The film To Sir with Love; school and preppy detailing; enchanted forest prints of foxes, hedgehogs and dragonflies and dancing girls, sparkle, lurex and velvet".
