Christmas party season is over, spring seems like a life time away and you may be feeling a little lost for what's hot and what's not in your wardrobe for the seasonal transition. Which is why Team LBD have scoured the couture catwalks, talked to the designers direct and tried and tested a few fashionable ensembles. All to ensure you're kept abreast of the looks you should be buying now and wearing right through till next season. And the even better news? You can bag many of these 2013 pieces in the sale now! BLACK & WHITE Think spring and you’ll probably imagine happy-go-lucky florals, pretty pastels and dusky hues but this season the catwalk was rife with a rather different look for the warmer weather. Instead designers likes Mark Jacobs and Jason Wu emphasised a strong monochrome theme in their collections, which Team LBD are pleased to inform you, is far more wearable and can be bought on the cheap in the end of year sales now. For work wear or whilst you’re dancing the night away a bold black and white look will ensure you’re on point in the style stakes and looking rather trim. Who needs a January detox anyway? Left to right: Scarlett Black London Pitch Dress in Cream, £165, Gina Bacconi Jersey Dress with Beaded Embellishment, Was £199, Now £139.30, James Lakeland Jacquard Dress with Bow, Was £159, Now £79.50. PEEK-A-BOO PIECES The cut-out crept up on us during Christmas party season last year but this year it’s out and proud, just in time for the sunshine. We hope. From belly-baring designs and thigh-high leg splits to the more subtle and chic flesh-revealing sheer panelling, a little hint of skin is essential in your 2013 wardrobe according to design greats BCBG, Cushnie et Ochs and Michael Kors. Opt for whites, creams and pastel shades for daytime and summer weddings and vamp it up with black and metallic peek-a-boo detailing come the evening. Left to right: Lipstick Boutique Leila Dress in Black, £75, HMH Couture Euterpe Dress in Royal Blue, £415, Hedonia Ali Dress in Gold Splash, £65. BOLD STRIPES Whether you’re more American retro like the Tommy Hilfiger girls this season, want to get gorgeous in geometric prints or you're Beetlejuice’s biggest fan there’s a big bold stripey style for you. Aside from the fact that the vertical line is a girl’s best friend when dressing down a size or two this look won’t age. It’s clean cut, it’s crisp and it’s here to stay so invest in a striped dress now and be one step ahead of the fashion elite. Left to right: BlingDeenie Bella Shirt Dress, £56, James Lakeland Pink Geometric Dress with Belt, Was £135, Now £67.50, Aftershock Tatiana Pleated Shift Dress, £91. LUXE LEATHER It’s time to accept that the leather look will never date. Even as spring 2013 draws nearer if the catwalk was anything to go by we’ll still be donning those darling leather dresses and a casual cover-up in the chic fabric won’t go amiss either. Keep your leather look minimalistic and in homage to the sunnier season play with lighter shades- we love nude, grey and white or tan and oxblood which were still reigning supreme at DKNY and Proenza Schouler. Left to right: L.2.Mae Evan Leather Dress, £450 (similar styles also available here for just £90!), Emma Louise London Mini Dress, Was £300, Now £240, Scarlett Black London Sleeveless Fascienne Jersey Dress, £125. Team LBD are currently lusting over ankle-strap pumps and studded loafers which will look great with any LBD and tights combo. Not ready to party with your skyscrapers? Ease yourself in to this ladylike trend with a 90s-esque pointy, but mini heel. If it’s good enough for the likes of Zooey Deschanel, Kate Bosworth and Brit-babe Alexa Chung it’s good enough for us.
