Catwalk report: Get the Chanel look

Last week one of the most hotly anticipated collections of Paris Fashion Week sashayed down the runway. It was of course Chanel Haute Couture AW14. Carefully set into the unusual backdrop of a ruined and derelict theatre, the show took place in Paris's magnificent Grand Palais. The idea behind this stunning collection was to set the old against the new; a theme which became apparent when the thick curtains were drawn back to reveal a futuristic amalgamation of city skylines around the world. From the intricate, to the beautiful and sometimes downright bizarre, Team LBD show you how to work Chanel's new and outlandish trends into your everyday look..

Left to right: Aftershock London Theolina Flare Dress in Navy, £101; Lipstick Boutique Pearl Dress in Black and White, £35; Aftershock London Taban Embellished Dress in Silver, £156. The largely monochromatic collection saw Lagerfeld draw inspiration from various era's in the past century. From the1920's we saw dropped waists and loose shifts reminiscent of The Great Gatsby, whilst themes from the 80's took shape in bold shoulders (and boy do we mean bold!) alongside the exaggerated make-up of the models. Embrace the roaring twenties with the Gatsby Glam pieces Team LBD have to offer, including the glitzy Lipstick Boutique pearl dress, now a steal in the sale, and Aftershock's embellished drop waist dresses.

Left to right: Ruby Ray Tweed and Leather Shift Dress, ¬£75.00; Ruby Ray Tweed Jacket, ¬£65.00; Ruby Ray Fitted Tweed Dress with Frill Skirt, ¬£75.00 Tweed was once again the most heavily featured fabric of the Chanel collection taking the form of elegant cropped jackets and reinventing the skirt suit into a glamorous evening piece, not just for the office. If you're looking to get ahead of the fashion game by embracing tweed early on, then look no further than the Ruby Ray tweed pieces at LittleBlackDress.co.uk. This tweed jacket simply screams Chanel and when paired with this tweed and leather shift dress you have yourself the ultimate ‘Lagerfeld look' for less!

Left to right: Bernshaw Laura Dress in Monochrome, £255.50; Forever Unique Rome Dress, £40; Kate Fearnly Long Buttercup Dress in Monochrome, £126.

Monochrome is most certainly one of Team LBD's buzzwords for summer, and judging by the Chanel Haute Couture collection it's one trend that's certainly here to stay. From the catwalk to the front row, there was barely a single colour in sight. Famous celebrity faces could be seen showing their appreciation for all that is black and white with both Kristen Stewart and Clemence Poesy channelling the Chanel woman in monochrome. Kristen looked painfully sleek in an ivory blazer with black shorts and black fingerless gloves (an ode to the famous Karl himself) - whilst Clemence chose a more traditional tweed and monochrome suit, managing to look uber-chic and embrace two trends in one. Try Team LBD's spin on the monochrome look with Kate Fearnly's full and flirty Darcey dress or the sophisticated Bernshaw Laura dress. If neither of those picks take your fancy, then the uber-modern Forever Unique Rome dress might be for you. With striking white panels and clean lines to flatter your figure we're sure even Karl would approve! Shop monochrome at LittleBlackDress.co.uk here.
