Introducing Team LBD's LFW reporter

Acting Deputy Fashion Editor at the Daily Express and self-confessed tomboy (and soon to be week-long LBD wearer in our LFW LBD Challenge!), Antonia Kraskowski is Team LBD's girl on the ground at London Fashion Week 2013. And since we're leaving all the best black dress spotting, FROW-ing, outfit blogging and cocktail sipping in Antonia's very capable hands for the week we thought it only right to introduce her properly... We're very excited to have a fashion veteran such as yourself flying the Team LBD flag at LFW. How did you get in to the fashion industry? I actually started my career working as a costume assistant on films such as Sahara and Fred Claus during the summer holidays at school and then while I was at university. When I was coming to the end of my time on Fred Claus, I had no projects lined up, so I applied for a work experience position at Easy Living magazine's fashion cupboard. I loved it so much that I decided to change tack and pursue a career in fashion instead, and I was fortunate to get some great opportunities – the rest is history! What roles have you undertaken in the industry and which has been your favourite? I interned at several glossy magazines – Easy Living, Glamour and Vogue before joining the Daily Express as their fashion assistant and working my way up the ladder. I love the process of seeing a shoot through from the planning and concept stages through to the final printed version. What does your day job involve? What's it like working for the Daily Express fashion team? I love that no two days are the same at the Daily Express – one day I might be building a set or styling a shoot, the next I'll be writing a feature, reporting up to the minute fashion news or going on showroom appointments to see new pieces for the season. Being a daily newspaper means that there's never a quiet moment and I love the fast pace. What do you most look forward to about LFW? The lead up to LFW can be quite stressful but the second you're sitting at the first show of the season you know it was worth it. The photographers in the pit are barking instructions, then suddenly the lights go down, a hush falls and the music starts; it's a particular kind of magic that still gets me every time. What are your favourite SS13 trends? How will you be working them in to your own wardrobe? My favourite trends this season are monochrome and stripes as they're both very versatile and universally flattering. While I'm not sure I'm brave enough to step into a pair of stripy trousers, I'll wear a wide striped top, loose dress or skirt with neutral basics for a simple yet strong style statement. Who is your favourite designer? It's hard to pick just one but I love Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs and the Topshop Unique show is pretty much guaranteed to rock my fashion week world every season. Describe your fail-safe look. My friend Hollie summarised it for me the other day – jewels, jeans, flats. I'm a tomboy at heart but that's not to say that I don't love a good dress when I see one as my bulging wardrobe and weary boyfriend will attest to! No matter what I'm wearing, its pretty much a given that I'll finish my look with what's fast becoming my signature, a statement necklace. What is your Saturday night style like? Over the years, my Saturday night style has evolved quite a bit as I'm not really much of a clubber any more – I like to be stylish but comfortable. I might throw on a sparkly dress but I'll pair it with ankle boots rather than skyscraper heels. What does the LBD mean to you? The LBD is a classic piece. I think every girl remembers her first one and my wardrobe is brimming with favourites from over the years. When in doubt, get the LBD out! Who is your LBD icon? There are so many women whose style I admire that its hard to name just one but I love the way that someone like Olivia Palermo or Kate Moss can take the simplest LBD and make it look amazing. Tell us a bit more about your LBD challenge during LFW… As I said, I'm a bit of a tomboy at heart and in winter I pretty much live in jeans so I'm very excited to step out of my sartorial comfort zone and try something different for fashion week. I'll be styling one of LittleBlackDress.co.uk's black dresses in a different way and with my own unique twist every day and I'll be blogging about my daily look for the Team LBD blog Stay tuned for Antonia's first LFW LBD Challenge on the Team LBD magazine .
