Kate Middleton's style

Here at Team LBD we love the royal family as much as we love black dresses of the little variety (almost!) and Kate Middleton's evening dress glamour and laid-back chic, high street loving style has a lot to do with this love. So in honour of the one year anniversary of Kate and Wills' wedding we take a look back at our favourite Duchess' rise to the fashion elite which we'd like to credit to her love of British fashion and of course her penchant for a good black dress! Full-length and fabulous K-Mid has made some outstanding choices as far as her evening attire has gone since becoming the Duchess of Cambridge. There were so many fabulous full-length dresses to choose from in the catalogue of Kate's elegant evening ensembles but in the end it had to be these Great British ball gowns. The black lace Temperley dress that Kate wore for the premiere of War Horse (above, left) was the perfect choice for her long lean figure and really emphasised her elegant and feminine side. And the floor-sweeping lilac Alexander McQueen number Kate wore for the unveiling of the Kate and Wills waxworks in New York (above, right) was the epitome of simple, British elegance. Well done Kate, you've done us proud! Last but not least Kate's long velvet black dress for The Sun Military Awards (bottom image) blew us all away when she first stepped on to the red carpet (Will and Harry made the perfect accessories too!). Little Black Dress heaven Kate is no stranger to the advantages of a good little black dress and has taken her collection of LBDs across the continent, putting our favourite wardrobe staple in the spotlight at many a special event. We love how despite her fondness for simplistic style when entertaining superstars and royals alike Kate always opts for print on her LBD to add a little personality to the mix. Lace is Kate's fabric of choice and we love the black lace lovely (above, left) she wore for the Prince's Trust concert last year. And can you believe this monochrome number is Zara!? Team LBD are all about special occasion style and the Duchess of Cambridge is somewhat of an icon when it comes to dressing for a wedding. Here she looks stunning in another hot off the high street Zara white and black dress (above, right). If you're straight up and down like Kate copy her waist-cinching belt to create curves and avoid over-sized clutch bags as these will make you seem smaller.
