Legendary fashion maven, Zelda Kaplan dies aged 95 on Fashion Week front row

Zelda Kaplan, owner of one of the most recognisable faces and wardrobes in fashion, died at the ripe old age of 95 yesterday during a New York Fashion Week show.

The former dance instructor and night life legend who refused to be defined by her age and instead by her impeccable and at times eccentric style, was sat in the front row of designer Joanna Mastroianni's show when she appeared to faint. She was escorted from the show whilst models continued to shasay down the runway but unfortunately there was nothing the paramedics could do. Just moments earlier the fabulous fashion maven had caught the eye of photographers and fashionistas alike with her scarlet print skirt suit, matching hat and black heels, prompting Team LBD to celebrate the style icon that was Zelda Kaplan.

From amazing African print wrap dresses adorned with extravagantly embellished scarves and quirky vintage jewellery to her over-sized sunglasses, statement hats and on-trend Peter Pan collars worn at every fashionable event and premiere in New York for the best part of 60 years, this was one lady who truly lived for fashion. Friends of the legendary fashion maven have commented that they will of course miss her and her love of life but that she loved fashion more than anyone and so this is the way she would have wanted to go.
