It's the British theatre's answer to the Oscars, and so with Sunday night's Olivier Awards came a red carpet full of glamorous acting stars. Hosted at London's iconic Royal Opera House, Britain's home-grown talent pulled out all the stops, but it was a decidedly dark affair, with more than half the women attending donning their sartorial LBDs. Well we all knew it was the most flattering colour! Undoubtedly stealing the spotlight on the night, British actress Gemma Arterton, singer Nicole Scherzinger and Pixie Lott made sure all eyes were on them as they opted for slinky LBDs for the occasion. Gemma's LBD featured a plunging neckline and detailed crossover back whilst Nicole opted for a more structured style that flaunted her hourglass figure and slender shoulders. Pixie hit the red carpet in a plunging black dress, which featured a daring thigh split; she paired the slinky dress with bold pink embellished heels and a popping pink clutch to match. Some of the other stars to opt for the LBD on the night included Downton Abbey's Laura Carmichael and classical singer Camilla Kerslake. And whilst Laura opted for a pretty lacy number, elegantly paired with pointed-toe heels and a metallic box clutch, Camilla wore a far more racy number that exposed a hint of side-boob and revealed her back. Kimberly Walsh stood out in the sea of black in a bright red dress that showed off her slender frame perfectly.
