The Little Black Dress at Paris Fashion Week
Here at Team LBD, we're always on the lookout for great news and trends so that we can report back to you with the most delectable designs and the best little black dresses of the moment. And where better to see the latest in chic and sophisticated fashion statements than at Paris Fashion Week?
The Autumn/Winter 2012 collections saw an abundance of flirty, feminine variations of the classic little black dress - with flirty frills and ravishing ruffles featuring prominently in the designs.
Lanvin was a particular PFW highlight and showed figure-accentuating black dresses emphasised by large ruffles as well as waist clinching, flaring skirts - adding the perfect twist to the contemporary little black dress.
In true Parisian style Viktor and Rolf set the tone for romanticism with a number of beautiful floor length black dresses featuring elaborate rustles and frills. We love the way their Forties inspired silhouettes added that extra element of glamour that we're all so obsessed with right now to their delectable designs.
Another designer whose dress designs caught our attention was Swiss house Akris. Known for showcasing timeless pieces with modern flair, Akris' sleek range of evening dresses cleverly used transparent panels to transform classic pieces and add a little allure to otherwise demure designs.
And we couldn't give you a 'best of' PFW' without mentioning Givenchy, who took full advantage of this season's love affair with leather by carrying the luxe fabric through to our winter wardrobes in simple high-neck black dresses and midi skirts. Their impressively black collection was speckled with a range of strappy, just above the knee dresses in vibrant colours, accentuated with brilliant gothic patterns.
