The Little White Dress triumphs

Move over LBD, here comes the LWD! Yes, that's right an alternative to the classic style staple of the exceptionally elegant little black dress is upon us! Here at Team LBD we are firm followers of the LBD as triumphed by the great Coco herself. However, the little white dress has been an unexpected success in celeb land and on the red carpet recently.

Anne Hathaway looked angelic in white as she donned a beautiful white Grecian style gown for the premiere of The Dark Night Rises on the black carpet earlier this week. Similarly her co-star Marion Cottilard dazzled like a princess in a white ballerina style dress but of much shorter, more playful length. Made in Chelsea star Francesca Hull added a ray of sunshine to the same event dressed in a white maxi dress with nude heels, a colourful clutch bag and matching accessories- a great look for women of all shapes and sizes. In contrast the young soul singer and upcoming protégé of the late Amy Winehouse, Dionne Bromfield, looked quite the ice queen in a white body-con dress with teal fringing at the waist and electric blue heels.

Whilst the white dress has been making an appearance on couture catwalks and start-studded red carpets across the world this season courtesy of designers like Alexander Wang, Diane Van Fusterburg and Balmain Team LBD are still reluctant to replace our little black wardrobe staple. We love the fresh and angelic look of the light and bright trend and it will forever hold a place in our springtime wardrobes but will the white dress be a one hit wonder? Will it ever reach the iconic, go-everywhere and anywhere status of our fashion hero? Here at Team LBD we know how fickle fashion is and we're not too sure the LWD will stay around for long (maybe as long as the Great British summertime?), so don't be too quick to throw your LBDs away just yet! For now, if you do want to keep on top of this seasonal trend and radiate in white like the cream of the crop at The Dark Night Rises premiere, here are our top LWD picks…
