This week in dresses: the AMAs red carpet and gorgeous gowns

Music and film royalty jostled for attention this week at awards ceremonies, launch parties and premiers-a-plenty with sweeping gowns making a firm fashion statement. These jaw-dropping creations were spotted on red carpets in the US and back home in England. But which is your favourite? We know which one is ours. . .

The American Music Awards

Celebrities crowded the AMAs this week with an eclectic mix of fashion decadence. Pop star royalty, Taylor Swift wowed at the 42^nd music awards in a jade coloured cut-out Michael Kors gown, the sweeping floor-length dress was sleek and flawless and framed her exquisite figure perfectly. Her best friend Selena Gomez chose a floor length Armani Prive gown and can you guess? It's Team LBD's favourite style of the week! Sleek and sophisticated with a hint of sexy all rolled into one floor- sweeping stunner. Meanwhile, singer, actress and dancer Dianna Agron showed off her shoulders in a unique Marchesa dress, which she paired with black stiletto court shoes and a metal cuff. A simple up do completed an unfussy look. Whilst Kardashian star and model Kendell Jenner paraded the awards in a black and nude dress, which featured a sultry sheer skirt with a quirky geometric patchwork bodice.

The women in white

Angelina Jolie certainly had us under her spell as she opted for head-to-toe white at the premier of the war film, Unbroken. She looked incredible on the red carpet with a sleek silk crepe pencil dress and balero cape from Ralph and Russo, which she paired with nude court shoes and a sophisticated up-do. Kate Beckinsale also opted for white and opted for a stunning floor-sweeping design for the AMAs in LA; a small silver clutch with hair slicked back completes an iconic look. Nipping back across the pond, Emily Blunt opted for a David Koma monochrome dress with a Tory Burch coat and Brian Atwood heels for an appearance on David Letterman mid week. And did you see that glittering gown Poppy Delevingne aired? She was snapped in an Osman dress for The Collective Launch in London on Monday.
