All the best dresses from the BAFTAs and the Grammy Awards

All the best dresses from the BAFTAs and the Grammy Awards

Award season has officially kicked off and Sunday saw the start of all the A-list glamour to look forward to. The BAFTAs red carpet displayed a sleek collection of sophisticated styles as actresses turned out groomed chicly for the occasion, whilst across the pond the Grammys saw an array of daring designs and more contemporary looks from the crowd of musicians.

The Wow Gowns

Taylor Swift opted for a mermaid-esque number for the Grammys in a pretty Elie Saab dress, whilst singer Iggy Azalea flaunted her curves in a figure hugging Girogio Armani dress. Rihanna took a turn from her usually edgy look and wore a bold candy pink Couture gown by Giambattista Valli.

The Grammy LBDs

The LBDs were popular at the Grammys with some of our favourite stars donning the timeless colour. Beyonce wore a plunging Proenza Schouler gown, whilst Nikki Minaz also followed suit in a racy LBD by Tom Ford. Jessie J also looked chic in a beautifully embellished gown, which featured a sheer skirt and top.

Miley Cirus also donned the classic dress and looked surprisingly demure in comparison to her usual red carpet style in a cut-out Alexandre Vauthier dress. Actress Nicole Kidman was an unusal guest at the music event and donned a simple Mugler dress. Fashionista Kelly Osbourne showed off her slim figure in a flattering high-neck gown with long sleeves and a fishtail train.

The Disco Balls

Not ones to shy away from the limelight, it seems Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Rita Ora were all of one mind when they opted to dazzle at the Grammys in shimmering silver gowns. Gaga wowed in a plunging Brandon Maxwell gown that showed off her cleavage and flaunted her slim pins, she made the look her own with long white locks. Katy Perry's Zuhair Murad dress had a gorgeous twenties vibe with beaded tassels but the semi-sheer effect and fit kept the look in the twenty-first Century, as did her popping-purple hair! And possibly the most conservative look we've ever seen from Rita Ora, the singer wore a high-neck, long-sleeved maxi gown by Prada.

Ladylike looks

Bafta nominee Felicity Jones wore a beautiful Dior Couture gown for the BAFTAs red carpet, whilst Keira Knightley also opted for the same colour palette in a gorgeously girly Giambattista Vali gown. American actress Amy Adams donned a demure white column dress, custom-made by Lanvin that flaunted her slender frame.

Bold and beautiful

Julianne Moore won the best actress BAFTA for her role in Still Alice and looked perfectly chic for the occasion in a plunging red gown by Tom Ford. Reese Witherspoon also opted for a bright colour at the awards and showed off her voluptuous figure in a bright puple Stella McCartney gown. British actress Diana Agron also donned red for the occasion and certainly made her mark amongst the veteran A-listers at the awards.

LBD chic

Black was also a popular option at the BAFTAs and actress Rosamund Pike, who was nominated for her role in thriller Gone Girl, wore a sleek little black dress by Roland Mouret. The Riot Club actress Holliday Grainger looked sophisticated in a monochrome number for the red carpet whilst seasoned actress Kristin Scott Thomas opted for a 1948 Balmain Couture dress from WilliamVintage.

The newcomers

Game of Thrones and Hunger Games actress Natalie Dormer upped her fashion game in a sleek navy and black dress, which she paired with fingerless navy-lace gloves to add an edge to her red carpet look. DJ and presenter Sarah Jane Crawford opted for a baby pink dress, whilst former Radio One DJ Edith Bowman also looked incredible in a whimsical blue gown by Luisa Beccaria.
