Oscars style: the winning dresses illustrated since 1929

Audrey Hepburn collecting her Oscar in 1954 and one year later Grace Kelly with her Oscar for The Country Girl. Awards season comes to a glittering climax with the 88^th Academy Awards taking place in Hollywood this weekend. We're already giddy with anticipation as we prepare ourselves for all the gorgeous ball gowns and evening dresses that will be parading down the red carpet. And with Cate Blanchett, Brie Larson and Jennifer Lawrence up for Oscars, we know we're going to be in for a treat. So what better time to revive this gorgeous 2013 illustration, which beautifully depicts the red carpet dresses worn by each and every Best Actress winner since the inauguration of the Oscars in 1929. From Bette Davis' smart tuxedo dress way back in 1936 to Cher's 1988 barely-there gown, and a decade later, the pink Ralph Lauren princess dress (and tearful acceptance speech) that won Gwyneth Paltrow a place in Oscars' history, they're all here!
