There’s no doubting London has been on its best dressed behaviour this week as the fashion elite descend from all continents to celebrate British fashion in the capital at London Fashion Week. So from the A-list that turned out in their most fashionable attire to attend the front row, to the models that donned the most spectacular creations from our British designers, here’s what got out hearts-racing over the weekend…
If there’s one place to ensure you’re bringing your fashion game, it has to be when you’ve bagged yourself a front row seat to one of the hottest runways of the season. And model of the moment, Jourdan Dunn and American actress Kate Boswoth certainly showed their sartorial streak in pretty pastel numbers, whilst Abbey Clancy and Ellie Goulding went for floral and leather takes on their LBDs’ respectively. But taking centre stage at the Burberry Prorsum show earlier this afternoon, fashion veteran Kate Moss and last year’s leading model at the show, Cara Delevingne, got as much attention as the collection on their different stylings of a classically tailored suit. Of course Ms Delevingne went for trainers!
There were plenty of bright hues on the runway for spring/ summer 2015 and blue certainly made a strong impression. Turning up the heat at a number of London Fashion Week shows, rich jewel tones were interpreted in Matthew Willaimson’s vivid jungle theme, whilst Mary Katrantzou and Julien Macdonald showed the enchanting subtlety of soft pastels shades.
It was hot this season and it seems it will be carrying through until next summer too, the white dress isn’t done having its moment yet. Marios Schwarb married the fluidity of his gowns with the pure-as-snow tone, whilst Emilia Wickstead and Julien Macdonald brought out it’s feminity in skater skirt styles, structured silk fabrics and floral applique detailing. Antonio Berardi brought his usual shimmering tones and sheer detailing to his collection for a show-stopping red carpet-ready collection.
Arguably one of the best when it comes to providing glorious gowns, Marchesa never fail to make an impact with their show stopping designs. From whimsical maxi dresses, layered lace pencil dresses and boho style shoulder designs, there’s a little something for every woman with this stand out collection.
Our favourite colour of course, black made a shy appearance for the SS15 season, but we managed to spot a few gorgeous numbers on the catwalk. Simone Rocha and Holly Fulton made stand out pieces with texture and fabric playing a key role in the dress design, whilst designers Temperley London and Roksanda Ilincic let the material take control and played with shapes that best showed off their choice of material. Team LBD love the pretty prom shape and flowing maxi, the perfect cocktail dresses!
Grabbing almost as much attention as the catwalks, the style on the streets was just as exciting as the latest collections, proving the eclectic quality of British style. From pretty prints, textured prom styles and luxury separates, girly pointed toe-heels and statement bags, these ladies certainly made a head-turning impression. Favourite looks go to gorgeous bloggers Julia Lundin in her pretty white separates and boldly coloured accessories, and Nada Adelle showing off her perfect pins in her smart and sexy textured two-piece.
Have we got you all flustered over dresses? Well don’t be shy, take a look at our dresses collection and satisfy your shopping cravings. After all, “nothing haunts us like the things we didn’t buy”.
