Party time in London’s fabulous Pleasure Gardens

For all you LBD party animals who are feeling the absence of Glastonbury this year, don't fret, because you can still indulge in a spot of Glasto-style fun at Bloc Weekend, a two-day arts and audio extravaganza taking place this coming weekend.

The venue chosen for this electro-dance party is no other than east London's brand new Pleasure Gardens, a mind-blowing 20-acre waterside arts and entertainment space brought to you by the people behind Glastonbury's warped yet wonderful late-night world of Shangri-La. Inspired by the Pleasure Gardens of the 17^th and 19^th centuries, where people from all walks of life converged to listen to music, admire art and enjoy the culture that made their city great, the purpose of London's modern-day Pleasure Gardens is to give you the most unusual experience you'll have this summer! Crafted out of derelict docklands in east London, the venue, which has been dubbed ‘wasteland to wonderland', now houses ultra-modern open-air concert, dance and theatre arenas, sculptural gardens, a nature reserve, marina, even a swimming pool, all sitting amidst a formidable industrial landscape.

And it's here that Bloc has decided it hold its annual do. Headliners Snoop Dog (Friday) and Orbital (Saturday) are the icing on altogether rip-raving line-up including Flying Lotus, Gary Numan and Jeff Mills.

We're forecasting a cool but comfy dress code, so will be opting for the Style Standard's Josie dress, £61.50, made from a super-soft silk mix, teamed with a pair of Urban Code Stealth Roman wedges, £138. As well as dancing the night away in the main arenas in our United Nude wedges, including the 30 metre geodesenic Dome, and majestic Hub stage from Glastonbury, we're looking forward to checking out the Art-Hotel and Restaurant, a kitsch mix of boutique Airstream trailers and fine dining; exploring the Sculptural Gardens and their large-scale installations and art trails, and being blown away by the enormous light projections that will adorn the brooding facades of the disused mills.

There's also the MS Stubnitz to enjoy, an old, 80 metre long, German shipping vessel that has been converted into a moving platform for sonic and visual arts. However, what really has Team LBD in a tizzy of excitement is the floating cocktail bar. Yes, those clever folk behind Shangri-La have converted an ugly old pier into a decadent drinking den, all sparkling lights and luxury. With award-winning barmen The Soul Shakers serving up the drinks, it's the perfect place to sip a mojito and watch the sun come up – if we last that long, that is! See you there.
