STUDIO KING SUITE 803 AT BELGRAVES, LONDON If you crave a little Manhattan cool in Belgravia, here it is. Exposed brick walls, seductive glass-fronted fireplaces, amid an upscale Sloane Square setting. Our favourite door key is to room 803, a corner suite with sweeping views of the capital and a bathtub by the window – so it is suited to voyeurs and exhibitionists alike. A giant Ralph Lauren mirror hangs on the wall and there are glass globe lights, velvet banquettes, super-soft throws and cow hide rugs. Rates From ¬£191 Team LBD recommends Make like the Chelsea elite in this Victoria Beckham-esque black pencil dress, Was ¬£60, Now ¬£30. Paired with gold sequin shoes you're bound to make a statement. D'ARGENTO SUITE AT HOTEL MISSONI, EDINBURGH Channelling Italian glamour amid Edinburgh's grey grandeur, Hotel Missoni is a resplendent rainbow-coloured retreat, with a restaurant and bar styled with catwalk cool. This bold and beautiful boutique hotel is close to the castle; its yellow stone façade dotted with windows, so guests can soak up the scenic city sights. The D'Argento Suite is the headline act, with views of the Old Town stretching beyond Arthur's Seat as far as the Firth of Forth, and one-off Missoni-designed furniture pieces. Our special-occasion pick is 507 on the top floor for its giant Victorian window looking straight out at Edinburgh Castle. Rates Form ¬£152 Team LBD recommends Channel the Italian designer's quirky-cool look in this could-be-haute-couture printed maxi dress by Tramp in Disguise, Was ¬£578, Now ¬£405. Add elegance with this silver star ring by Zoe & Morgan. ROOM 21 AT THE FEVERSHAM ARMS HOTEL & VERBENA SPA, NORTH YORKSHIRE Twenty minutes from York, the quaint and castle-toting North Yorkshire village of Helmsley is host to this homely Victorian-built boutique hotel, where guests go to hide away from the urban hubbub and ramble the majestic moors. An arrival promises the irresistible combo of cosseting, duck-down-pillowed cosiness inside and wild, wuthering moorland out. Cosy and contemporary Room 21 is dripping with character, with the original beam running through the ceiling and a huge bathroom with a claw-foot bath – check in here for entertainment of one sort or another, whatever the weather. Rates From ¬£120 including breakfast Team LBD recommends Full-length and fabulous is the only way to go for this majestic getaway and our very own Ultimate LBD - Long, ¬£95, is perfect for such an affair! A faux fur collar will be enough to complete your sophisticated look. PLAYROOM AT BABINGTON HOUSE, SOMERSET Relaxed country manor with the heart and soul of one of the world's coolest members clubs? You know you're getting an ideal escape for urbanites when it's the rural outpost of Soho House that you're signing up for. It's out with stiff upper lips here, and in with wellies and metropolitan savvy. The walled garden is perfect for a romantic afternoon wander, but if you're feeling even too lazy for that, book a slot in the Cowshed spa for nose-to-tail pampering. Sexiest quarters? The adults-only playroom, with its own bar, walk-in shower and tub for two. Rates From ¬£260 Team LBD recommends Play Lady of the Manor at this decadent Somerset hotel in a dusky rose floor-length gown like L.2.Mae's Loretta Vintage Style Evening Dress, Was ¬£160, Now ¬£70, and team with delicate diamanté shoes. ROOM 1 AT THE WHEATSHEAF INN, COTSWOLDS Wind up at the Wheatsheaf and you'll find a traditional British coaching inn that's been brought bang up to date. A rustic charmer with regional fare that will please even the most discerning diner, Chef Anthony Ely's menu changes daily with a focus on regional produce. The temptation may be to linger in the elegant bedrooms but don't skip the cooked breakfasts – the fresh flavours and the provenance make it the stuff that the most-important-meal-of-the-day adage was made for. As for a taste of the décor, the look mixes history with pop, blending trend and tradition – right up our street. The Wheatsheaf Inn's Room 1 encourages a bit of a peep show: by opening the grand double doors, the vast copper roll-top tub enjoy views of the adjoining bedroom. Rates From ¬£100 including breakfast Team LBD recommends Mix old world charm with 21st century sex appeal in Gina Baconni's Layered Beaded Lace Dress, Was ¬£325, Now ¬£227.50, and a chic drop pendant. LOFT SUITES AT TUDDENHAM MILL, SUFFOLK Quirky watermill, 12 acres of land, swan-speckled mill pond – some of the highlights of this 17th-century Suffolk stay, near Newmarket and Cambridge. If it's absolute privacy you're after, book one of the Loft Suites at this Brecks-borders bolt hole. Craving city-slicker creature comforts? All 15 bedrooms are treated to Bose sound systems and open-plan bathrooms stocked with Elemis products. Interiors may be refreshingly modern, but as you relax in a bathtub big enough for three, remember that you're far from the first folk to hang out here: the original mill was referenced in the Domesday Book. Head Chef Paul Foster has designed a special Taster Menu for the Valentine's long weekend using the best seasonal ingredients (it's available on 14, 15, 16 and 17 February). Rates ¬£170, including breakfast Team LBD recommends This season is all about fresh monochrome colour palettes and in this gorgeously girly black and white ruffle maxi, ¬£175, and killer high heels you'll fit right in at this crisp city-slicker retreat. ROOM 19 AT THE SCARLET, CORNWALL We do like to be beside the seaside. Especially when our luxurious-but-laidback rendezvous is art filled and environmentally friendly. At the Scarlet, gone is the formality of a reception desk – a warm welcome is all that's needed to invite you to enjoy the gallery, restaurant, spa and outdoor natural swimming pool. Thanks to the cliff-top setting fresh salty air and heart-stirring sea views are a given – especially from the hotel bar and restaurant. Our tip is for room number 19 with its dimmable eco lighting and a luxe bathtub and rainshower-for-two. Rates From ¬£195, including breakfast Team LBD recommends Channel the sleek and clean lines of this cool hotel with the smoky tones of a stormy February sea in Bourne's Dara Dress in Smoke, Was ¬£145, Now ¬£108.75, teamed with a chic clutch such as Alicia Clutch Bag, Was ¬£108, Now ¬£81. THE CARDINAL SUITES AT BLAKES HOTEL, LONDON Anoushka Hempel's sexy South Kensington luxury boutique hotel is a lesson in attention to detail, inspired by far-off lands from Russia and India to Turkey. Four-postered beds festooned with rich fabrics, and lavish gold-and-black ensuite bathrooms – what more can you ask from a naughty nighterie? The Swift, discreet atmosphere enhances the feeling that you're the only pair in the house. Even the boudoir-chic restaurant which treats diners to sophisticated Modern European dishes, with eastern influences is pure aphrodisiac. Room 109, the Cardinal Suite, is the most shamelessly romantic: with heavy, textured fabrics, floral artwork and the kind of ornate, crimson-draped four-poster that makes you reach for the smelling salts, it's an essay in decorative decadence. Rates From ¬£263 Team LBD recommends Femme fatale is the only way to go at this opulent and sensual boutique hotel. This Bernshaw Karolina Dress in Black, Was ¬£399, Now ¬£200, will hug your curves in all the right places, alluding to what's underneath. Aftershock's Lace Clutch will complete your look. ROOM 1 AT BARNSLEY HOUSE, COTSWOLDS Chocolate-box countryside, cutting-edge furnishings: this super-stylish country manor is perfectly pitched at weekending lovers. Make sure you book into the field-side Garden Spa at the end of the rolling grounds – its herb-infused holistic treatments and hydrotherapy pool are a dream for couples. As are the two-seat pink leather sofas in the private cinema. Perfectly pitched at weekending lovers, light and airy Room 1 is equipped for an especially dirty pair, thanks to a twinset of freestanding tubs (facing a TV so, if conversation stalls, you can watch while you wash).
