We caught up with statement shoe-extraordinaire and Littleblackdress.co.uk brand, Kat Maconie as she arrived at London Fashion Week this morning (to the news that some of her shoes hadn't arrived for the all important catwalk shows!). But as ever, Kat was excited and happy to talk about what it's like being involved in London Fashion Week and her seriously cool shoe designs that are taking the fashion world by storm...
London Fashion Week is here! How have you prepared?
I'm super-organised so I've been ready since July! I've been organising the different shoes for all the shows, but I've just arrived and they're not all here! This year we're providing shoes for the models walking for Felder Felder, Charlie May, Jasper Garvida (coming to Littleblackdress.co.uk soon!) and a vintage retrospective collection by Lily Allen. I've got everything ready to go to Milan…tomorrow too! And then Paris…
We love your statement shoes- how does it feel to be a part of the brand new shoe collective at Somerset House this year alongside the likes of Julian Hakes and French Sole?
It's amazing, we're just trying to get the name out there. We'll be selling too so LFW-goers can get a slice of designer fashion for a snip of the designer price!
Will you be wearing your own shoes!?
And will it be flats all week?
No way! My shoes are super-comfy so it'll be heels all the way. Looking good doesn't have to hurt!
Will you be going to any of the runway shows this year?
We're so busy and I'm only here today but I will be sneaking out to see Felder Felder, who I love.
Does LFW inspire your own collections? What can we expect from next season Kat Maconie?
My next collection is designed already! Spring is done and we'll be ready with A/W 13 in December. I told you I was super-organised! I can't stand the panic. I wouldn't be able to work in clothing and do all these shows, it'd be a nightmare.
Jessie J amongst other fashionable celebs have worn your shoes. Who would you like to see in your shoes next?
I'm a bit rubbish with the whole celebrity thing but it's great to see the likes of Pixie Lott in my designs. Really I want the editors and stylists wearing them- they're the decision makers, if they like my designs they will sell and people will love them.
Now that you're on LFW's radar what are your aims and aspirations?
Expand internationally and general global domination! We're doing really well in Brazil and are working more in China. More of the same I suppose.
