London Cocktail Week's best drinking dens
KETTNER'S
What: Gorgeously glamorous, Kettner's is undoubtedly one of London Soho's most legendary establishments. Dating back to the 1800s, this decadently decorated Georgian venue is renowned for hosting the most incredible parties, frequented by the most colourful of clientele, including Oscar Wilde, Agatha Christie and Bing Crosby. Today, Kettner's still has all the ingredients for a truly fabulous night out: a grand décor with gilded ceilings, velvet seating and a titanic champagne and cocktail menu. Drink: The Little Black Dress Cocktail of course! A flirty mix of BLOOM Dry London Gin, orange juice, strawberries and mint, Kettner's will be serving up our exclusive LBD cocktail all through London Cocktail Week (and you can have one on us here). Wear: Mascara Sequins Detail Long Gown, ¬£320 Where: 29 Romilly St, Soho, London W1D 5HPCALLOOH CALLAY What: A bar in a wardrobe, who'd have thought! Welcome to Narnia, or as close as you're going to get to drinking at Lewis Carroll's cocktail party in this part of town. It's surrealistic chic with old gramophones, exotic lampshades and a mural of 80s cassettes. It's cocktail heaven in here and I guarantee you won't want to go back to reality. Drink: This place is all about trying the new and bizarre. Taste Shiraume Umeshu Plum Infused Sake or indulge in one of Callooh Callay's complimentary cocktail concoctions using Akashi Tai sake and Nikka whisky. MAYOR OF SCAREDY CAT TOWN at THE BREAKFAST CLUB Stroll in to The Breakfast Club casually like you're looking for a full-English and then announce ‘I'm here to see the mayor.' Then watch with glee as the Smeg fridge swings open and gives you access to one of the coolest bars in London town. The drinks are as cool as the speakeasy vibe- the Rosie and Gin, Tommys Chili and the Red Lady are some of my favourites and go brilliantly with a seriously sexy pair of stilettos. Wear: Bourne Laila Shoe in Gold, ¬£146 Where: 16-21 Artillery Lane, The Breakfast Club, London, E1 7LS
LONDON COCKTAIL CLUB This bijou basement bar in London's super-cool Fitzrovia is a Fat Duck for cocktail lovers. With its old-school meets gentlemen's club vibe, the boys behind this bar are all about mixing things up. So get inventive with your drink! I recommend the Squid Ink Sour if you're feeling adventurous or their classic take on the Mojito and Mai Tai which you can sample for £4 during London Cocktail Week. Plus you get free popcorn. It's amazing up there and the views over this part of town are unrivalled- don't miss the viewing area and be sure to get there early and bag the couples' leather chairs. DABBOUS In this industrial styled basement you'll find edgy drinks and rock n roll music- our kind of place then! Sip sexy cocktails at communal tables surrounded by exposed brick walls in your sleekest of little black dresses. Wear: Reiss Theodora Black Leather Dress, £295 Where: 39 Whitfield Street, London, W1T 2SF
PURL Not the easiest to find, but if you spot some black railings and a dapper doorman you're probably in the right place. Purl is run by the Willy Wonkas of the cocktail world so grab yourself the menu slash faux-aged-parchment-bookmark, and you'll find all sorts of funky inventions. Try the Corpse Revive #2 which is recommended if you 'need some pep'. Go on, I dare you! Wear: Bernshaw Helena Dress, £365 Where: 50 Blandford Street, London, Marylebone, W1U 7HX
