Showstopper! Heidi Klum commands the red carpet

Saturday night saw a host of well-dressed celebrities turn out for the annual creative arts Emmy awards in LA, welcoming in the talent that we often don't actually get to see on our screens. Known as the "technical" awards, they are key in recognising categories such as sound editing, lighting, make-up and costume design, although our star of the night without a doubt was Heidi Klum, whose outfit definitely got more attention than the awards themselves. And if we're honest, for Team LBD it's just another excuse to gawp at dresses, and the night's offerings certainly didn't disappoint!

Heidi Klum

When walking the red carpet what better way to make a statement than to turn up in a royal blue fringed dress made entirely from tiny silk strings, as Heidi Klum demonstrated. The 41 year old (yes, 41!!) Project Runway host wowed the crowds as she stepped out in the sleek gown, which was designed just for her by a current Project Runway contestant, Sean Kelly. The supermodel then went on to exhibit the versatility of the dress by twirling around the red-carpet making sure all eyes were on her, including her plus one, Project Runway mentor, Tim Gunn. Heidi paired the statement creation with a simple blue gem necklace and black platform sandals to keep her dress at the forefront of the look. For a show-stopping blue dress why not try our Ruby Ray Handkerchief Dress, was £190, now £57. With a dipped hem and layered skirt this dress is ideal for Heidi Klum inspired twirling (even if it's just around the house). Like Heidi, pair with a simple peep-toe heel and a statement necklace for added glamour.

Shop the outfit: Ruby Ray Hankerchief Dress in Cobalt Blue, was £190, now £57, Krystal London Linked Necklace, £95, Aftershock London Debbie Peep Toe Heel, £74.

Cat Deeley

Not the only lady to make a lasting impression on the red carpet, TV presenter Cat Deeley also showed up in head-turning fashion wearing one of our favourite and most versatile trends for autumn/winter 2014. Cat injected a beautiful blue hue into her style for the night with a stunning Sachin + Babi silk floral frock, which she matched perfectly with cobalt blue Louboutin heels. Carrying a fuss-free clutch with simple accessories and tumbling waves, the familiar face certainly looked relaxed and chic for the red carpet. For a pretty style, take inspiration from Cat's look with the Kate Fearnley Lily Floral Dress, £195, which is not only figure-flattering with a fitted bodice and fishtail hem but also perfectly on trend. Let the dress do all the talking and accessorise with a simple clutch bag and stylish sandals.

Shop the outfit: Kate Fearnley Lily Floral Dress in Blue and White, £195, Aftershock London Jamie Clutch Bag in Black, £39, Aftershock London Lorena Shoe in Black, £64.
