The best dresses at the British Fashion Awards 2014

From actresses and singers, fashion royalty and fashion models, a host of impeccably dressed A-listers turned out to walk the red carpet at this year's British Fashion Awards hosted at the Coliseum in London yesterday. The crème de la crème of fashion society made quite a lasting impression, whether they were in this season's fine gowns or flaunting designs from the SS15 collections. As predicted the model of the year award went to Cara Delevingne who was presented the accolade by her sister Poppy, whilst Team LBD icon, Victoria Beckham received the brand of the year award.

The Models

Winner on the night Cara Delevingne wowed in a Burberry gown whilst up and coming model, and Kardashian sister Kendal Jenner looked sleek in an Emillio Pucci jumpsuit with sheer Christian Louboutin heels. And although she may be nearly twice the age of many of these other models, Naomi Campbell didn't fail to make an impact in a stunning LBD by Alexander McQueen. Victoria's Secret Model Karlie Kloss made a demure yet sensational mark on the red carpet in a stunning silk gown by Nicholas Oakwell Couture, which featured a modest train and feminine high-neck design. Last but not least newcomer Suki Waterhouse looked pretty in a Burberry dress and metallic heels.

The Fashionistas

Ever the style chameleon, Alexa Chung looked very regal on the red carpet in a floor-length Emilia Wickstead dress with a quirky blue bag, whilst American actress and trend-setter Olivia Palermo looked delightful in a black and yellow creation. Poppy Delevingne proved the night wasn't all about her younger sister Cara, as she turned heads in a mini LBD from the Topshop collection. And proving her right to the title brand of the year, Victoria Beckham wore a monochrome ensemble from her eponymous label.

The Performers

Showing they've got the style as well as the talent, singers Ellie Goulding and Mollie King both looked incredible in floor-length neutral coloured gowns. Ellie wore her hair down and wavy, whilst Mollie tried the slicked-back hair trend with a pop of red lipstick that certainly paid off. Rita Ora turned up in a daring black Tom Ford creation and accessorised with... the designer himself - we certainly think that's got to be better than a clutch! Pint-sized singer Kylie Minogue showed off her pins in a flowing silver silk gown, and styled it perfectly with a metallic clutch and sexy strappy heels. Nicole Scherzinger also turned up looking scha-mazing with her boyfriend Louis Hamilton. She wore an off the shoulder Julian Macdonald dress, one of her favourite designers, and paired it with slinky nude Christian Louboutin heels.

The Actresses

Becoming quite the one to watch for her red carpet appearances, Emma Watson looked glamorous in a plunging white jumpsuit, in which she received the honour of best British style. Actress Tamsin Egerton, best known for her role in St Trinians, may not be the best known actress at the event but she certainly proved she was worth the invite with her classic outfit that featured a stunning red midi skirt with fishtail detail. Anna Kendrick and bond girl Naomie Harris both opted to wear pink for the event. Whilst Anna kept it simple in a sleek strapless midi dress, Naomi flaunted her legs in a uniquely designed pink mini dress and maroon-coloured ankle-strap heels.
