This week in dresses: awards and premieres galore
This week celebrities got the party started in a variety of little black dresses as awards ceremonies and premiers had celebrities across the globe flocking to the red carpets in an array of gorgeous gowns. And although the British Fashion Awards (BFAs) dominated headlines at home with a glittering display of glamour and panache, Miami, New York and Melbourne played host to our favourite modern-day fashion icons…
The LBDs
Gossip Girl star Blake Lively caused a stir as she turned up to the annual L'Oreal Women of Worth Celebration in New York, wearing a skin-tight backless dress whilst almost six months pregnant. The floor-length Kaufmanfranco gown was extremely flattering, which she wore with over-sized earrings and a wrist full of silver bangles. Actress Julianne Moore also attended the ceremony in a stunning Alexander McQueen dress, paired with a simple black box clutch and simple strappy black heels.
Kate Hudson showed off her long pins at the Louis Vuitton dinner in Miami on Tuesday, opting for nude shoes and a quirky box clutch with brightly painted nails. Whilst in Melbourne, French actress and Bond Girl Olga Kurylenko looked incredible in an Emilio Pucci dress for the launch of the film, The Water Diviner. The beauty completed her look with strappy black Tabitha Simmons shoes, opting for an under-styled up-do and simple gold bracelet. And last but not least, Scarlett Johansson turned up the heat at the Gotham Independent Film Awards in a mini Saint Laurent LBD on Tuesday in New York. Keeping the black theme going she paired her dress with black nails, black crystal heels and silver metallic clutch, and finished the look off with a slicked back up-do for a rock chick finish!
The British Fashion Awards
And it would be remiss of our celebrity round-up not to mention the BFAs, even though our Facebook friends will already have read how we have raved about key trends emerging this week. Victoria Beckham wearing her own range, Cara Delevingne in Burberry and Karlie Kloss steaming in a Nicolas Oakwell were firm favourites. And finally, we must end with one of the world's highest paid models, Joan Smalls in that revealing Tom Ford dress – dare to bare is certainly not a look for the faint-hearted but sure to set temperatures soaring! Take a look at our full run down and all the gorgeous gowns here.
