Underwear is the new outerwear!
Last Thursday evening high-end fashion magazine, Tatler held a pyjama party at Claridges Hotel; one of England's most ritzy establishments located in London's classy West End. Among the guests was Disney Channel sensation turned rebellious pop star Selena Gomez as well asglamour model Kelly Brook accompanied by hunky arm candy; Thom Evans and glamorous Oxford graduate Violet Henderson. With such an unusual dress code, this presented a fashion challenge for even the most stylish of celebs and there was a very obvious difference of opinion about what classed at pyjamas! Examples of this include Ms. Henderson who chose to flaunt her foxy physique in a barely-there lace ensemble, unlike Kelly Brooks donned a floor length, silk nightgown a much more conservative option to cover her curvaceous chassis. And then there was Zafar Rushdie; he arrived in striped pyjamas with teddy bear slippers! With the up-and-coming trends inspired by the 1980s grunge lifestyle, we're hanging up our maxi dresses and digging out our baby doll dresses, ditching our flowing gowns and spraying on our body-con minis. The more lavish lace and frisky fishnet, the better! 'Lingerie as outerwear' was brought into the limelight by Madonna's blonde ambition when she famously wore Jean Paul Gaultier's conical bra during the 1990s and it's back with a vengeance! This time the look is less androgynous and aggressive and more feminine and sleek think suit trousers with basques or laced up skirts with floaty blouses. More edgy celebrities, such as Lady Gaga and Rhianna have trail-blazed this recent revival but it's now being adopted by more mainstream trend-setters like Kim Kardashian and Rochelle from the Saturdays. If you want to work a little more corsetry and lace in to your wardrobe, see our chic, lingerie inspired choices below"¦
